- Aimé is the third and youngest son of a disposed French Lord.
- The middle brother, whom Aimé adored, ran away with a revolutionary. Aimé considers this a betrayal of the family but was never told the whole story surrounding his disappearance.
- While in France Aimé procured positions and favour for his elder brother and father with his “companionship”. Now in England he plans to do the same.
