1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your character's favourite colour, or what the relationship with their mother was like, their lap dancer name, whatever.
2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know your character better.
3. You update your characters IJ with the answers to the questions, and comment to this post with a link to your answers.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else's character, or even players, in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions about either themselves or their characters.
1. What was Aimé's relationship like with his brothers growing up? Did it change because of their mother's death? To begin with Aimé was much closer to Augustin. Because they where the younger two children there wasn’t as much pressure on them in the shape of lessons or protocol so they spent much of their time playing and enjoying themselves. When their mother died and the family moved to Pairs although they remained close Augustin began to distance himself from the family as a whole. Antoine rather took Aimé under his wing and drew him in to life at court but they where never close. Antoine always seemed to regard Aimé in regards to his usefulness rather than as a whole person.
2. Aimé was used as a bit of a pawn by his brother and father at the court. Did he ever resent them for it, or was he appreciative that they, to some extent, embraced his sexuality? Aimé was rather young when first introduced at court and had very little time to work out for himself what his sexuality was before he was being paired off with older, richer men. He feels it is his duty to help his family and never questioned it while they where in Paris. Now in England he is beginning to resent their use of him, especially as they refuse to allow him to take a lover in Mercedes because he’s of a lower class.
3. Would Aimé have joined the Revolution with Augustin had he made the offer? Despite his deep affection for Augustin Aimé enjoys the selfish, spoiled life of being a court favourite. He wouldn’t have been able to deal with sanctioning the executions of previous friends and possibly his own family. He would probably have tried to talk Augustin out of running away.
4. Does Aimé resent Antoine and their father? Does he love them too much to allow himself to? He doesn’t resent his father. He’s an old man who was trying to make a more comfortable situation for his family at least in Aimé’s eyes. With Antoine however he feels resentful for the fact that he refuses to give Aimé any autonomy over who he attached to. He loves them both too much to leave or ask them to stop, especially as he realises they have few other avenues of advancement but he simply wishes he where given a little more say in the matter.
5. How far would Aimé go for Mercedes's advancement? Is there a situation he would find too precarious to put himself into for that purpose? He would go everywhere but back to France. He could probably even make a deal with the ambassador if it meant protecting or advancing Mercedes position. He would even marry to obtain the ability to sit in parliament and then grant Mercedes a title himself but he hopes it wouldn’t have to come to that. He dislikes the idea of marrying simply to complete his own ends, especially if it hurt the lady he married.
